The Cubs were the first team to ever win back to back championships, both of those wins came agains the Detroit Tigers. In 1945, the Cubs made the World Series, but coincidentally lost to the Detroit Tigers. Also in 1984, had the Cubs not lost to the Padres and Steve Garvey in the NLCS they would have gone on to the World Series to face the Detroit Tigers.

  1. Too bad the Tigers wont make it to the World Series...

  2. no.... you can't guarantee anything in baseball

  3. If the Cubs keep playing the way they play, then they'll be the opponents of any team in the World Series. Even though coincidentally, they've played the Tigers a lot in the world Series.

  4. The Cubs are the best team in the NL. The Angels are the best of the AL. A 1990 film, "Taking Care of Business", predicted that the Cubs would beat the Angels in a World Series. It will happen this year.

The Cubs will win in 666.

  5. Interesting analogy.  Of course there are no guarantees in anything but for the sake of baseball and it's historical perspective it would be something to talk about.

I'd just like to see the Cubs fans finally have something to cheer about.  100 years is just too long to wait.

  6. no they would face the phillies

  7. I don't think neither the Tigers or Cubs make it to the World Series & if the Cubs do, the American League will win the series

  8. no

  9. Dude that is a huge coincidence. But judging by how the Tigers' record looks I dont think that will even make it to the post-season.

Edit: That is actually pretty cool, just like the Lakers keep playing the Celtics in the NBA Playoffs
