  1. The dollar has been strengthening recently, and with this strength the precious metals, such as Silver, have been declining.

Metals generally go up as the dollar goes down. If the dollar collapsed, as you say, your silver would be worth a lot. IMO, the dollar may well go down again, but it won't be worthless. The US is not Zimbabwe, after all.

To use your bullion, you'd have to exchange it for dollars or some other currency. The dollar itself would still be worth something so that you could trade in your silver to buy dollars to buy your groceries with.

  2. yess why dun you understand math

  3. most likely, yes.

the question would be, how much would an ounce of silver be worth relative to everything else?

the Dollar is unlikely to collapse totally, or anytime soon, but it's not impossible. given that silver until recently was used as money, and that there are still traditional societies around the world that value silver as one store of value, silver should kick in again pretty easily if need be. what could take place is that you would be able to deposit your metals into an account and from there transact your business using esilver and/or egold. and, there's no reason you couldn't go spend it like you did your Dollars, especially if your silver is in coin form.

  4. This is why it is best to have a diversified investment portfolio. If the dollar were to lose more of its value, then you should have assets that will appreciate given that situation.

There are 'experts' who say that silver is a better investment than gold. Robert Kiyosaki is one. There are several videos on youtube.com where he gives his opinion on this--look it up.

  5. Nope, nothing would be worth anything if the dollar were to collapse. A system of bartering would appear, but nothing would have a dollar value anymore.
