If the Florida Keys get walloped, will productive Americans be expected to pick up the tab?

Like in New Orleans, the city below sea level, where productive Americans are paying to rebuild the place that Mother Nature worked hard to put back into its natural state? Call me crazy, but I say people who choose to live in hurricane prone areas like the Florida Keys should foot the bill when a hurricane wipes it out.

  1. As always, yes. But don't underestimate people's "right" to live where they want.

Also, many coastal citizens are pushing for the Florida state government to subsidize their insurance costs, or take over the insurance of their property altogether.

Essentially, those who are rich enough to live on the coast will have their insurance paid for by inland residents, thanks to dishonest and opportunistic politicians and this countries pervasive entitlement mentality.

  2. Productive Americans working at Katrina-ravaged refineries are the reason slackers in upstate New York can drive to the Hamptons.

  3. try to see some expert

  4. Well, since productive Americans do live in the Florida Keys, then yes they will pick of any damages beyond Insurance if it is considered a national disaster site.

Can you think of any place in the US that isn't affected by some type of disaster?

  5. Productive Americans like FEMA will and should be expected to rescue those who are stranded there.

  6. what about tornado alley ?

    or

    the Mississippi flood plain ?

the Government built roads going into the area so Americans could move there, most of those people would not be there if the Feds didn't make it possible.
