I think all you democrats need to stop crying foul. Govenor Palin already has more experience in running large organizations and in actually getting things done than the other 3 put together do. I think the nation, once they get to know her strenght and tenacity to do the right thing will flock to her and support her as we do in Alaska. She is an amazing person, concerned mother and a motivated reformer.

She not only knows what it takes to get the job done; she does it.

  1. The governor can fire political appointees, but not civil service workers.

  2. Hello?  Remember in 6th grade where you had to learn executive branch, legislative branch, judicial branch and the balance of power between them?  No, the President or Governor does not run things  like how the CEO of a corporation does except that both retire with big bucks regardless of whether they scr-w up or not.    No. she can't any more than Bush can fire federal prosecutors because he wants people in there who "will get the job done " by ignoring things he wants (like habeus corpus, corruption investigations against Republicans, due process little things like these ).  Your worry should be about  all the Republicans who are questioning this VP choice.

  3. No.  She has to have a basis for terminating someone.

  4. From the Anchorage Daily News:

    ------------------------

Monegan was a Palin appointee, and she had a right to fire him for any reason. She's previously refused to say exactly why she got rid of him, but laid out several reasons Wednesday, saying she's decided to talk about it because Monegan is.

Palin said he wasn't doing enough to fill state trooper vacancies and battle alcohol abuse issues. She said he "did not turn out to be a team player on budgeting issues."

Palin said it's fine to have debates during cabinet meetings over the budget but Monegan went further and indicated to legislators she wasn't proposing enough spending. Palin's acting chief of staff, Mike Nizich, said Monegan asked legislators for spending that hadn't been authorized by the governor.

"The response he got was don't come to us and ask for more money when you cannot fill the 56 or 58 trooper positions that were vacant," Nizich said. "So he was making a pitch for additional funding when he couldn't even fill what he currently had available to him."

  5. Each state has its own constitution and rules for governing. The process for hiring and firing are covered by those rules and they are not all the same.

The act of firing must follow the rules of the state.
