If the Military is overextended now, what would happen if we were in a real war?

"real war' meaning one where the enemy actually has an army and has the power to take territory.

I guess we'd have to draft people again. Just imagine if there were a world war (which is possible if gas goes up so high everyone's economy tanks), and here we are stuck in Iraq twiddling our thumbs.

  1. likely we would let iraq and afganastan fend for themselves, or institute a draft.

  2. We would reorganized, set up a draft and redeploy our force, Duh! Plus we have many other assets on the ground, in the sky and under the sea that can completely level any country in the world in a matter of hours if such a world war came to pass as you suggest. Interesting to think about huh?

  3. That's why God made B-52's, B-2's, and Tomahawk missiles.

If a shooting war started somewhere, we have enough assets to react to it with just the Air Force and Navy.

The military, last I checked, had a "two and a half wars" philosophy.  We have enough assets to fight in two major theatres, and enough assets left over for a brush war.

  4. Don't believe the liberal hype one Trident Nuclear Submarine has enough fire power to destroy a continent the United States has 18. We have the fire power we just need the will.

  5. we would get ourselves beat like we have never seen before, but the government would make all the young people go and fight and would kill anyone with doubts about the military knowing how antagonistic this country has become

  6. its coming............

i have said a few times. when wars are waged over religion, its like a tea party..when wars are waged over a comodity, it is going to be h**l.

i dont know if you see it, but the economy has tanked...im 44 years old, i have never seen it like this...

ww 3 is on the way, i can smell it...

  7. Depends if we were on the attacking or defending side. If we were stupid enough to attack another country that is on par to lets say... france while we were in Iraq, then we would probably lose due to sheer public outrage, and the president would be assassinated for going so far against the will of the people.

If we were on the defensive... we wouldn't need to pull back our troops. Millions of new enlistees over night, unanimous public support, mobilized state militias for support, The Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, Police, and just plain citizens with a handgun or two... the full might of the US unleashed like never before... The Enemy would meet fierce, dare i say, unbeatable, resistance before it got within sight of the US mainland. If anywhere the enemy had the misfortune (that's right, misfortune) to land, they would be annihilated by mobilized coast guard, militia (possibly gangs),  and your average gun toting/ explosive creating ( for you anarchists out there) citizen, just in time for the Marines or possibly Army to get there to wipe up.

No coalition of any countries could beat the US in a defensive war short of going nuclear, then the world is toast.
