If the North is so bad?

Question

Why are so many of us Southerners actually moving there, or planning to? I plan on going to Uni in Durham and staying up there in 2 years, and a friend of mine moved to Nottingham today. My best friend much prefers Teeside to home, so what is this on about??

i geuss theyre accents are funny (:P) and they often get the worse weather but then again, most of our best british food comes from up north (lancashire hotpot, yorkshire pudding etc)

It's a load of rubbish from some dickish rightwing think-tank.  They've never been out of their offices, let alone out of London and they figure that people are some sort of economic unit rather than, erm, people.  Even on their own terms it's rubbish since the south is unaffordable to all but the highest earners.  It takes no account of other quality of life factors such as how easy life is or how pleasant people are.  Ignore the idiots - they know not of what they speak.

I'm planning on moving south next year (well nottinghamshire is south for me).  So the south can't be that bad either.

We don;t want them Northern f****rs down here, no way!  With their flat caps, greyhounds, racing pigeons and curry and chips, or worse still curry and half and half.  Also don't forget these are the people who gave us deep fried Mars bars for Gods sake!!  Leave them up there where they belong with their bad weather, and leave the glorious south to those who deserve it, us southerners.  Anyone who tells you they prefer living up north is totally bulls******g they are just jealous that they can't afford to live down here.!

My Mother brought us up to Yorkshire in 1947 due to the war, and that was because her Sister lived here. I hated it then and still hate it, but have never managed to move down to Kent since we left. That has always been my wish, but there has always been a block of some sort in the way and I never have been able to fulfil my dream of getting back there..I am to old now to make it.... mores the pity.

it's funny you should say that, I've just watched the news and an "expert" said we should all move down south for better pay, jobs, and quality of life. I don't understand it, Liverpool is booming now.

I beg to differ craig I find london a fantastic place to live, as with all cities it has its fair share of crime but so does manchester liverpool or any other city, In answer to your question Kat I don't believe they are all migrating south they are all moving to Spain, the area I have lived in for 6 years is 95% northerners, having said all that I love the north as well, it has the most beautiful countryside it was surely god given and the people are so friendly warm and welcoming a very big plus in my book.

I was born in the north and moved to the south many years ago. There is absolutely no difference. In both the north and south you have everything that makes England the most beautiful, historical, tolerant and cosmopolitan country on Earth. We should think of England.
