  1. Because she is a millionaire and can't be arsed

  2. I think the Queen finds comfort from her faith as people of any faith must have.  Remember the Queen is a figurehead and cannot get involved personally in politics, she herself has led a Christian way of life and is an example of duty over choice of career.  Can you imagine having to turn up for all the engagements she does a year and talking to all these people and shaking hands.  I would hate it - she is an example of how middle England regard family life to be.  Her role is not that of a preacher but she does set standards and does it well.  She can't stop her grandchildren going out clubbing and getting drunk, because thats exactly what most young men do at some time - doesn't mean she approves of their behaviour.

  3. Why do you say that?

  4. I once heard Prince Charles say that he'd like to change that position to "defender of faiths." Plural. It all seems pretty pointless to me anyway.

  5. we're a multicultural country now. get over it. some people dont even believe there is a god, and rightly so. she's representing the people, let the pope represent "God".

  6. She sometimes does, in her Christmas Speech, but she is careful not to do it every year. In the years when she decides to do it, she does it quite emphatically.

  7. She IS only a figurehead.

Monarchical structures are inherently atheistic anyhow.

  8. No she does nothing, but she is advised and signs when necessary.

  9. As a Republican and an Atheist, I don't really care which faiths she defends.
