Question:

If the US supports independence in Kosovo, why doesn't it support the Kurds?

They have been both supported and attacked militarily by the Turks, Iran, Iraq, the US and the USSR. They are a bona fide oppressed ethnic minority. We support ethnic independence movements in Kosovo, Georgia and Armenia, why not Kurdistan? Or is it that we only support ethnic groups that make trouble for our adversaries?

  1. The double standard Bush policy.

  2. It's all about keeping and maintaining our Air Base in Turkey....only the Turks are attacking the Kurds so what does that tell you?  Humm?  Humm?

  3. This is a puzzle for the reason that I thought Kurdistan did exist and if it does then  it should be independant.

The reason as usual are Power Games . You are correct people are seen as nothing but tools to be discarded once they serve their purpose.  They might if they want to make trouble in Turkey and might play up the opressed Kurd bit to do so.  They will not though as Turkey is an ally.

The reform of The UN and an introduction of a well informed Public might help on this issue that and more citizen volunteers to a Citizen UN  the purpose of which to stop all power misuse against citizens elsewhere might help.

  4. One countries patriots are another countries terrorists.  Unfortunately, US policy changes depending on the current political and economic situation. For example, the US supported Saddam Hussein when fighting Iran; and supported the Taliban when Afganistan was occupied by the USSR.

The US can't support the separation of Kurds because it would leave the rest of Iraq without oil, its only valuable resource.

Kosovo has US support because of recent 'ethnic cleansing' by Serbs.  However, the historic claim that the Serbs have on Kosovo is valid.  But who occupied this land before the Serbs, and how far back in time can someone make a claim as an inhabitant?

What will the US do when the American southwest reaches 90% ethnic Hispanic, and 'Del Norte' wants to to succeed?

  5. The US has done more for the Kurds than pretty well every other country.

    They might go further,

but then the Turks would object.

  6. Because they do not feel it is in their interest. No Country does things like that unless they cab see some benefit. not just USA

  7. When was the last time your country supported the U S Doesn't matter what country you are in the answer is the same
