the actual number of years the US and Royal Navies have operated nukes w/o even a hint of an accident is 5,345..or a thousand years longer than the Pyramids are old.

One reason is the almost fanatical training Navy nuclear people are given....and if you mess up you're off to Leavanworrth ....or shot at dawn.

Maybe we should turn the nuclear program over to the Navy?

I agree with you Yankee, and with Admiral Rickover.  Unfortunately it was handed over to the civilians, and the safety record is horrendous.
