Well, if you ask..

I don't think they would run America at all. If population of such a big territory doesn't want to be ruled by other country, it's much safer and cheaper to give them their own government and let them go. Of course that government will be set by Russia and will be obedient to it, but in two or three generations America will regain its rights and autonomy. So, it will become America again - different from current one, but free and independent.

practically speaking, the two powerful nations will not enter into a war. Both are most powerful.  For an argument sake, if war comes between america and russia that will end with cease-fire. no win no lose, but both sides will be heavy loss. Thousands and thousands of people will die.  Thousands of military will die. For any reason the U.S. will not surrender.  of course, the U.S. will face more difficulties than russia, but the question of surrender will not come.

if this occur, surrender will never happen US will use all its nuclear capability to the last one rather than accepting defeat. anyway, russian military is not that mighty anymore since the soviet union segregated.

It's unlikely Russia would be stupid enough to try and occupy America, pretty much the Americans are the only people left on the planet who think they can occupy foreign lands militarily and "convert" them to our way of life. The colonial era is over.

However, if that were the case, likely the same as almost any occupation anywhere. Martial law while they set up a puppet government, and hold some sort of "elections," eventually turning over "control" to their hand picked quisling leaders while Russian soldiers are stationed in military bases all over the country so that no one gets any ideas.

Sort of like the USA is doing in Iraq and Afghanistan for example.

Russia is not communist anymore, so I think the US will run as before, except russian will be a mandatory language in schools. Vodka instead of beer will become the drink of choice. Government will run more efficiently probably and discipline in schools will be tightened. Probably a lot of name changes as well. The white house might be renamed to Putin house for example. I really can't see a lot changing otherwise. People might even be happier!

First thing Russia would do is take away anything of value, gold reserves, art ect. Exploit the land for resources, oil, natural gas ect without any regard to the enviroment. Then set-up jails for dissenters, oops I meant re-education camps.

I think Russia would be smart enough to realize that America's land and population is to large to control in the long term, they would quickly take the most valueable assets as fast as they can.
