My # 1 pick would have to be Cliff Lee.Being from my home town,I have been fortunate to watch him become the rising star in the bigs as he was at the L.league level and if he stays healthy,will show us much more to come.The Yanks need a young star ace in their rotation now more than ever,but next season with him,Chamberland,Moose!!! Johan Santana.

Positives: He's a good pitcher, Johan is young, and almost every year has a low ERA. Plus, the Yankees need a star pitcher, because Moose is always up and down, Wang is hurt, Andy Pettite is getting old, all those stuff.

Negatives: The yankees will need A LOT of money to pay Johan if they want him.

If they could have anyone, and obviously they can't, they would get Brandon Webb or Cliff Lee, or they would get Josh Hamilton. Any of these players would dramatically increase their chances of winning this year. Obviously, with Joba and Chen-Mang Wang injured, they need a pitcher. And Josh Hamilton would put up even better numbers in Yankee Stadium because of the short fences down the lines.

I think they will go after Mike Avilas if the Royals don't give him a contract. This guy is good. He's hitting 340 and he was just called up from Omaha in the end of Jun. He's turning out to be a solid shortstop too. You, can just tell this guy has baseball talent.

phantom... its not easy to get johan, hes locked for like the next 7 years with the other New York team.

You cant just get one of teh best pitchers in your era like magic.
