If the americans started a social term called Modern Imperialism is there also a Modern Colonialism?

because on what i have observed american started this modern imperialism but i want to know if there is a modern colonialism? for me this is my definition of modern colonialism: a country that transfer their citizens or people to other countries to live their for temporary or permanent, just to gain access and trade benefits with other countries

I'm quite sure that Modern colonialism means that one country colonize another not by migration of population but rather economically (by capital) or politically (by paying/controlling local government/politics) and in some rare cases using limited military colonization (USA-Iraq) to make slave-country to work for wealth/benefit of host-country using different tools (partially described above, other may include nice-sounding rhetoric's, speculation, lie, misleading, etc.)
