If the at fault driver's insurance company is paying to have my vehicle repaired.....do they.......?

have to provide me a replacement vehicle while my car is being repaired or do they have the right to refuse?

I did pay for a rental car for a week out of my own pocket.

I was thinking that they do but the claims adjuster has not mentioned anything to me about a replacement vehicle. My car is at the auto repair shop. My rental car is due back today and I will have transportation while my car is being repaired.

Please help! This is my first time being involved in an auto accident! I have very little knowledge about how auto insurance works! SERIOUS answers please.....Thank you in advance!!!!!

yes, they will pay for a rental car while your car is being repaired. was your car driveable? they may not pay for the week if your car was driveable. they only owe while your car is being repaired. they may have you submit bill for reimbursement or a few insurance companies direct bill with certain rental car vendors.

You will have to call the insuranc company and ask them. Ask them what the procedures are for getting a rental while your car is being repaired.

Some companies have a direct bill set up w/ the rental agency. Other companies require you to pay for the rental and they will reimburse you.

I would tell them that you need a rental car. When it happened to us we told the adjuster that we had no other transportation and that they NEEDED to provide me with a rental. They are going to be a bit hesitant I am sure since it costs them and their client money. Just insist...that is one of the reasons they are there.

If you cant get them to budge then call your insurance provider and explain to them the situation..more than likely they will contact the other persons insurance for you.
