I was considering it but what they ask of you, is to time consuming. And they wont just take all the recycleable stuff, you have to send certain stuff to certain places, I dont have time for all of that. Is there anyway to get around this, other than just not recycling?

  1. Some of them do make it easier for you'' and they send the City of Department  to pick them up.. but really how much more are you asking.  are you telling me that you don't have the time to make your city's environment cleaner..  it your recycle stuff. All the city  is asking  is for you  to put them in the right place.. and not just throw your recycle stuff anywhere you feel like,  and some of them  do put the recycleable in the right place when some idIot put them in the wrong place..  but also remember that it your responsible to make your city's environment cleaner and better..

  2. Have you ever known the government to make anything easier? The government only cares about making their job easier. Not about making it more efficient or easier for the taxpayers.

  3. It's too bad not all cities are able to put in decent recycling plans. I'm lucky that my city has a great program so residents can put all recyclables in one big bin that gets picked up once a week. Even with that sort of convenience I'm still amazed at how lazy some people are and I still see garbage bins stuffed with cardboard, newspapers and other recyclable stuff. Can you get together with other residents and encourage your city leaders to implement some sort of plan? Can you get together with neighbors that might also want to recycle and take turns doing recycling runs? Also, buying in bulk, avoiding extra packaging, reusing what you have goes a long way to cut down on what needs to be sent to the recycling site. If you have to drive out to your recycling site can you work that into one of your regular routes when doing errands? Don't know if you have kids but getting them to help out is a great way to teach them how to live greener. My son started sorting recyclables with me as soon as he could walk. He just follows what I do so thinking green is natural. We're just average folk in suburbia, not extreme greenies so everyone can do what they can. My son is 11 now and this year he started a Club Green at his school.

There's also freecycle.org which hooks people up with others who might need stuff you're trying to get rid of.

  4. I agree, cities should do more. Next, who is the city?

Does the city need someone to get that going, keep it going? Even someone who will arrange for recycling when there is no profit in it?

Recycling of many things that could be is foiled by lack of volume, lack of facilities, and frankly the  people using the material have no interest in using recycled material. We have to stop buying the things we can not now recycle. But then we have to step forward and get this organized.

    We are the city.

  5. reuse is the key for your problem!

you can reuse certain stuff. like, candy wrappers can be used in making cool pictures that can be hung or pasted somewhere in your house. old broken frames can be used in making beautiful bird houses. the leaves which fall in autumn can be pasted on it. and there is also a really beautiful idea! it is of a Coffee Ground "Fossils" How to make it:

Stir the together the coffee grounds, cold coffee, flour, and salt until well mixed.

Knead the dough together and then flatten it out onto the waxed paper.

Use the can to cut out circles of the dough or use the dull knife to cut slabs large enough to fit your "fossil" objects.

Press your objects firmly into the dough. When you take the object out, you have your "fossil". If you want to hang the fossil, poke holes into the edge to hold the string.

Let the fossil dry overnight and then hang it if you wish.

    reuse.reduce. recycle. go green!!!

  6. The truth is they don't care about whether you recycle.  It's all about making it harder to perform simple tasks like putting out the trash.  Most recycling actually causes more damage to the environment than landfill or incineration.

  7. i completely agree they should do more to encourage recycling and cleaning it up!

  8. I agree.  I don't have time to sort through my trash.  I'm lucky to have time to put food on the table, let alone have 20 different bins sitting in my kitchen for me to sort trash.  I do recycle aluminum cans and take those to the recycling center, but other than that, I do nothing else.  I don't think the City does care whether or not we recycle.  I've never even heard it suggested in my City.

  9. The main reason there is not much interest in recycling is the profit. China is the only place in the world where electronic equipment is recycled because of the low wage of workers... Do you see what I mean?

I don't have time either, I feel for you!

  10. i dont beleive there is but instead of recycling you could always reuse and reduce they are important too. recycling may be one of the biggest but when it all comes down everything counts.
