If the cost of everything else is rising, Why are digital camera's the only product to buck the trend....?

..... It said on the news they were 20% cheaper than last year.

  1. They are hardly the only product bucking the trend, but any individual product has it's own micro-economic situation.

    Digital cameras are probably increasing in supply, and higher production quantities is pushing down costs.


  2. They're relatively new technology and manufacturers are figuring out how to produce them cheaper.  As more and more people buy digital cameras, the manufacturers also benefit from economies of scale:  that is, when you make ten million cameras, the cost PER UNIT tends to be much lower than if you were only making, say, ten thousand.
