  1. Who said they were the best team just becuase they on ethe cup . They had a great year yes but there not the best.


  2. people hate red wings cuz they WIN!!! they take the glory and other teams are too prissy to accept dat. red wings are the class of this league GO RED WINGS!

  3. A number of good reasons already listed. Another reason stems from the acquiring of some of their earlier Russian talent that seemed to play a little "soft" in the beginning of their careers.

    When opposing teams played the Wings, they would try to intimidate them and over time, it was a futile effort. The skill of those Russian players makes for great hockey and really forced opposing teams to skate more. Fans alike despised them for the most part because of their lack of physicality, especially if they got hit / challenged in any way.

    What they've shown me is an entertaining, fast-paced style of puck control, movement, and defensive play.  A style that many teams can't defend. They play unselfish and don't really have a "glory boy" among themselves, so it's easier to hate them as a whole. Of course it is easy to hate the team that has what every other team strives and tries for, but falls up short. The Red Wings have been the model team for years now.

  6. Because they are the best.  That means these "haters" favorite teams aren't the best.  Seems like a good reason to hate them to me.  GO WINGS!!!

    Now what is more odd is the Rangers haters.  They never have success, yet everyone hates them.  Seems to me, teams like Toronto and NY are the teams to like, because they are easily beat.

  10. I think it is because they are the best and their front office makes sure that they remain the same. Their scouting staff is incredible and they always seem to find gems through the later rounds of the draft and through trades. For instance, Datsyuk and Zetterberg were picked later than the 4th round. And who thought Franzen would be this good?

    Another reason that I hate them is because I live near Detroit and have to listen to all the annoying Wings fans. Call it sour grapes if you want, but these fans are just unbearable. It doesn't help me that I am an Avs fan, but I just can't stand the Wings or their fans.

I think they are hate in a similar fashion as Yankees buying players from other smaller market teams.  People always hold a grudge when one of there team stars goes somewhere eles for money.  Detriot is one of the few teams in the NHL that has always went out and bought talent from other teams.  Really burns the fans.

  16. For the first time in a very long time (that didn't make much sense but anyhow...) a team that deserved the cup won it. I'm no Detroit fan, but they played great and deserved the cup THIS season.

  17. I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan.  They beat us for the Stanley Cup.  I really don't hate them.  They are a good team.  I am a little mad because Ty Conklin and Marian Hossa are there although Hossa is a loser. Ha Ha.

Just because the Detriot Red Wings won the Stanley Cup that doesn't mean that there going to win it again.  People need to get that through there heads.  Yah you got Hossa too but for a year.  Pittusburg is a good team.  I'm a Wild fan and I think they still have a chance anyone does at this point.

  21. I think there are many reasons why the Red Wings are hated (although I love them more than anything).

    I think there's a lot of media against them, probably because the NHL doesn't believe the Wings have as many marketable players as the Penguins (ex Crosby, Malkin, Fleury).  I believe the league has a hand in this too though.  Banning the waving of the octopi on the ice is a 50+ year old tradition, and out of nowhere during the 2008 playoffs, it's no longer acceptable!?!  That seemed weird to me.  And of course, there is the old saying "everybody loves an underdog".  But otherwise, the Wings basically have what every other franchise dreams of.  They have an amazing and very stable front office, great scouts who aren't afraid to go after European players (which most NHL teams don't seem to do), and they can get amazing players like Marian Hossa to sign on and take a huge pay cut to play for the Red Wings.  When the salary cap was put in place, it was believed that it would crush the Wings, but if anything it has just shown what a commitment the organization has to winning and the NHL will never be able to put up enough road blocks to stop them.

  22. I am a Blackhawk fan. The Red Wings are in the same division and are a fierce rival of the Hawks.

    Also there are a lot of Red Wing fans in my area (some band wagon fans; some not).

  23. I'm from Pittsburgh. I don't like anyone but my Penguins. Call me a homer or whatever, but it doesn't make sense for me to like a team from somewhere that I don't live at.

  26. the wings just happen to be a good all around team they made draft choices that turned out to be amazing pick(datsuk, zetterburg) they have a good coach and front office that know what they are doing and they play a a team.Im a big wings fan and i love it
