If the earth is in round shape, how can we say that 'JAPAN' is in east?

  1. Because everthing has to have a reference point.  When the European explorers started out they went overland to the East where they found China and Japan.  Hence it was always referred to as "The East".

    When they started sailing they were looking for a way to get there by ship to bring back more treasures and trinkets for trade.  As I said everything has to a reference point.
