  1. No, it is basically self-balancing.

With a tire, it is fixed to an axle, so if the tire gets off balance the center of the tire's weight moves away from the axle. Since the Earth is not physically attatched to anything, the axis moves to the center of the weight.

  2. Terry's answer is right on the mark!  Good answer!

The only thing that I would add is that the earth already wobbles a bit.  That wobble is termed precession.  The Earth's rotation axis is not fixed in space. Like a rotating toy top, the direction of the rotation axis executes a slow precession with a period of 26,000 years.

It is interesting to note that because of this motion, the star nearest the pole is not always the same.  Currently the North Star is Polaris.  However, in approximately 14,000 years Vega will become the pole star.

  3. No, because there isn't any weight to weigh it down. The earth moves extremely slowly, since there's only one sun, as the earth moves, the moon and the sun swap over, which is why in America is nighttime and in the UK is daytime!

  4. No cuz there is no weight to it.  Think about it, the earth is in space, no gravity, here on earth gravity has a play on everything including weights.

  5. The proper and correct description of the earth's shape is oblate spheroid. Its widest girth is slightly south of the equator. And its least girth is pole to pole. It is forever adjusting itself by way of internal circulation of the mantle and cracking of the crust to become that ever elusive perfect sphere, but it is a long way from getting there. As far as spinning, it is slowing down. In time it will get ever so closer to being "stopped". The moon is very warped. Looking down from the north in space, over 50% of the moon's mass faces the earth. It will always be like that.

In our solar system there is only one body, the sun, that is a perfect sphere. As close as we can measure, the equatorial diameter is exactly the same as the polar diameter for the sun.
