will they add on the difference to the actual bill. I guess what I am getting at is this. My Bill last month qas $44.00 and it was a estimate. Now my Bill is $75.00 and it says a actual reading. Also does this seem high for a 1 bedroom apartment in the summer time? we have a gas stove and a hot water tank is all we use in the summer. h**l if it is this high without the heat I hate to see it in the winter

  1. what you can do is, as the reading day comes round get the meter numbers, ring your supplier and tell them the figures, thats on the month that they estimate your reading, if they refuse to do it that way  tell them you will report them to the fair trading council, because they are using your overpriced a/c to make interest for themselves in the bank, it's an old trick to make thousands of extra dollars for themselves

  2. The gas company is trying to save on sending meter readers out every month   so.......1 month they read your meter and send you an actual bill and the next month they do an estimate.  The estimate always seems higher to me. In your case they didn't charge you enough on your estimate so now you have to pay a higher bill to make up the difference.   Yes, the bills are getting higher as they just raised everyone.

  3. they guesstimate one months reading and then they look at the differences between the guess and the actual readings btwn the two months that they read.  I have put my utility (gas and electric) on a budget plan.  This way no matter what the reading I pay the same amount every month.  Keep in mind that is this a guess based on cost and usage over the past twelve months.  Any differences that occur will result in a debit or credit at the end of the year.  The high month as a result of reading the meter is accounted for in the fact that the estimate is low and the reading is actually over a two month period.
