If the government is so concerned about climate change then, why isn't all police cars hydride?

For the past 7ish years, there have been massive cuts to domestic spending from the federal budget. Things like schools, hospitals, universities, infrastructure projects, and event first responders like police and fire departments have seen their funding shrink. In a budgetary atmosphere such as this, local governments do not have the resources to invest in new equipment such as hybrids. There's lots of good ideas out there, and there is technology available which would make even "eco-police cars" a possibility, there just isn't the funding to back it up.

The government writes and enforces rules, it doesn't abide by them.  Is Bali the epicenter of global warming knowledge?  Is it the most central location between all of the invited delegates?  Is it a nice tropical place to visit on a tax-payer's dime?  Hmmm....

Well, there's the environment....and then there's the police being able to Catch the bad guys.....if they couldn't we might not like the "environment" we were in,,, ya know...full of bad guys?

I love it.  Bring 'em on.  Make the cops drive wimpy electricmobiles.  Those pos get only about 50 miles to a charge and can sustain higher speeds for even shorter distances.

I can go faster with my 4 banger and farther on a gallon of gasoline.

Once again, as in every instance our government is not really concerned about climate change. They are in it to get the money, if they build things that they make money from then they will further it, otherwise it is worthless. Maybe a few government officials may be aware of what needs to change and many are aware they are just ignoring it. The don't think anything matters for them once they die, they want to be rich and succesful now, they aren't going to die because of global warming, but if we don't start taking care of the environment eventually everything will go downhill and with it so will every person.

Only because Hybrid cars  cost about 9,000 more than regular unleaded fueled cars.

And there's still more unleaded fueled cars in the road that could out run a Hybrid car in a police chase.  Its a price and power issue.
