If the leader of a safety-critical project looked after the existing people, wouldn't it follow as?

So if a project has "problems", is there a rogue leader ?

  1. Leadership is a tough job, in itself: then, add to that, the project, the whole thing becomes so special, unique, you cannot generalise, except to say that 'nothing succeeds like success'!  


  2. Not necessarily. A 'good' leader (looking after the existing people) is no guarantor of progress in a project. Often then not, she is likely to be taken for granted by one or the other of the team, landed with more work than she can handle, or become a cause of resentment within the team. So much for progress...

    But to answer your real question, I agree that a problematic project is more often than not, the result of poor leadership. (Rogue leader)
