uh yah!! the female lion is WAY more tougher than the male..its the females that hunt most of the time for the pride and they are the ones that take care of the babies ...all the male lion does is impregnant the females and fight with the other males coming to close to his pride! and thats about it!!

Certainly. Lion is the name of the species, and is not restricted to the male. You can say 'male lion' or 'female lion', though female lions are commonly called lionesses.

In response to your first answer, I just want to clear something up - male lions are larger and stronger than the females, so it is not strictly accurate to say females are 'tougher' than males. Whilst females do the majority of the hunting for the pride, males do join in on occasion, particularly when hunting large prey such as buffalo. Also, young males who have left their natal pride and have yet to take over one of their own have no choice but to hunt for themselves. The main reason males hunt less than females is that their role is to protect the pride from invading males - they must save their strength for this purpose. In addition, their large manes make them more visible to prey when stalking.
