Question:

If the long term trend is global warming, wouldn't that put the extreme lows out of reach after 100 years?

  1. "Global Warming" was formerly known as the "Greenhouse Effect". The problem was, the weather wasn't cooperating with the theory of a lusher, more humid Earth, it just seemed to be getting hotter, so it became Global Warming.

Now, as the Earth fails to warm enough for some of these folks, and indeed continues to experience extreme cold, they have coined the new phrase Global Climate Change and warned that the Earth could well turn colder due to what was called Global Warming.

Either way, no matter what the weather does, it will be cause for environmentalist to clamor for change.

Never mind that the Earth has regulated itself through heating and cooling for millions of years. Never mind that a major eruption of a volcano could spew out more c02 in a day than man has released since the age of industry began.

Never mind that the claimed rised of the Earths temperature ofless than 1 degree can be attributed to other factors and cannot be verified...The Earth's climate cycles continuously.

Back in the 70's, those "who knew" said we would have no ozone layer by 2000 due to flourocarbons.

Its the same old bs- fear factor media

  2. It depends of the short term and local variability of the weather. Is the coldest local cold snap 1% lower than normal or 99% lower? If it is only 1% lower and the long term average goes up 2%, then yes, it is out of reach. Otherwise not.

  3. It has already been proven that Global Warming is irreversable and it's time to act NOW!

Global Warming has been proven to cause harsh summers but also colder, wetter winters. As Global Warming progresses we will see less of the fall and spring seasons and more of the two extremes. I have been doing a large amount of research about Global Warming and it is a very important issue which everybody needs to take part in being a solution of. If you can just turn off your lights, computers, take a quicker shower and try to reduce wasting energy it makes a huge difference. Thank You

  4. There are how many years of fairly accurate measurements, maybe 150 for Europe and North America?  How many years should we look at to define a"record"?

How many years of data do we have for China?  50?  That would leave us on average 950 years to break typical 1000 year high and low records. Don't hold your breath, weather will still happen.

  5. It may be over by 2013, if all these weather occurences are in fact being caused by Nibiru (Planet X), which NASA has currently stated that it does in fact exist, and it is in a elliptic orbit with our solar system.  It is coming closer and closer, and reaches earth every 3600 years.  It will be visible with the naked eye by 2009, and will be here full, and will look like the sun by 2012, December 21st.  NASA has built an additional observatory lab specifically for this closing planet.  Global warming maybe be attributed to this planet entering reaching closer and disrupting our solar system.

  6. Apparently not. The long term trend is undoubtedly one of warming, and it's still snowing in China.

Also, it might be snowing in China right now, but here in Texas it's doing anything but. Temps yesterday peaked in the low 90's. And since global warming and global cooling can't be occurring simultaneously, we are left to conclude that short term weather variations over a tiny portion of the Earth's surface tell us little about long term global trends.

As an analogy, imagine a casino. At any point during a normal day, there might be someone winning big, or losing everything. Despite all the short term variations, there is always a small but significant trend in favor of the house. At the end of the day, the casino always comes out ahead.

  7. Yes. In the extreme lows are at the poles, and they are becoming less and less extreme.

But more importantly, 100 years is nothing. The fact that we are talking about seeing GLOBAL changes in a matter of decades is very, very scary. These sorts of changes are supposed to take thousands of years.

  8. Global warming is over.  We should have enjoyed the warmth while it was here instead of panicing over it.

The cold is far more harmful to life than warmth is.
