......why are cars manufactured to be able to go over this limit? There are all these campaigns like "Speed kills" so why are they allowing it to happen? It seems so simple to me.

  1. Because it don,t burn up enough gas to suit the oil company,s  ???

  2. to get recognised so people will buy there cars. cars aren't only used on the roads, there are tracks where people go and race them and people like to show off...

there are loadsa stuff out there that are cool but pointless and we love it

  3. because there is no law about that and its so you can over take old people and women

  4. great point

  5. Well if they can make it so that if a person passing a particular bike test must be restricted to 33bhp- whihc could mean the bik the person buys having to go to a garage to be doctored- to be legal. Then they could do it with all UK vehicles.

I think they could make it so no legal UK road going vehicle can go about 100mph. Anyone wishing to use a car on the track, must comply to a diffrent ruling and the car's owner must be registered with a club etc.

There is no need for a vehicle to be capable to do 150mph plus.

The average car drivers only passes a basic car test, and thinks they are:  'safe driver' ' i can handle my car' ' im a good driver' .

Most people i think like to buy powerful cars, in the same way some people collect nuclear missiles... ' your probably never gona use it for its proper purpose, but it impresses the nieghbours n your mates, looks kinda masculine, s**y and gives the big a big ego trip'

  6. Just because they want to show the potential...

  7. this is a very good point!

i think that they should be limited  to 70 mph

this would reduce accidents for sure

and as for towing and acceleration  it would not affect anything

lorries, busses and motorcycle are limited so why not cars

  8. I thought the UK was on the metric system.

  9. whys it matter go as fast as u WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. because its not just this country they drive them in! would you like to be trundling along on the autobahn at 70mph lol

  11. Because we live in a free country, with freedom of choice.

You obviously don't like that idea...

  12. I can see where you're coming from, but would you honestly buy a car if it's top speed were 70mph? It's likely that a car with only enough power to go 70mph is going to struggle with any heavy luggage, towing caravans etc. A speed limiter could be placed on I suppose, but people would just have them removed.

  13. Good point but there will be a reason for them putting more on the clock.

  14. Yes it is 70, but cars are made to go faster as your not all ways going to be on the road are you. People like to race there cars on tracks where its legal to go over 70mph, also if the max speed of a car was only 70 mph it would most likely take ages to get up to that speed, you don't want a car that takes a minuet to get to 60 if you could have 1 that could do it in 5 seconds

  15. It not the car that kills though, It the person driving it.

When they break speed limits, their car is then a weapon.

  16. Think about it like this. when buying a car, many people will not take it to its limit and drive safely. however its always nice to know that if you ever needed to, it could!!!

And cars are not just manufactured for the UK, there are no speed limits on the isle of man, or the autoban in Germany!

  17. not all cars manufactured are for sale or use in UK, and not all countries with roads enforce  UK speed limits either.

  18. Good Q, but then i suppose if you think about it would you buy a car if it was sold as "this car has a top speed of wait for it... 70 mph', i dont think to many drivers would be queing up for it

  19. If some cars did that no one would buy the car xD however if all were made to do it it wold work but people be happy

  20. It would be very boring for the police

  21. In Germany on unrestricted roads you can go at upto 155MPH and cars are generally manufactured for a world market. Whether the UK government should enforce speed limiters on UK cars is a different matter.

  22. Can I get an * Amen * ...
