are suppose to belong to all of the U.S. Citizens... Then why are only those who lease or own the land with those resources getting their cut of the money, and not the rest of the citizens? Example - Alaska drills and pipes oil for the U.S. and her citizens. Those citizens of Alaska get a yearly 1200.00 dollar rebate in taxes. Where are those yearly rebates for the rest of the country's citizens?

  1. B/c they don't belong to all US citizens.  Property law is a matter of state sovereignty.  Therefore, mineral rights are governed by state laws.

  2. You see it's like this. I own land and I own the mineral rights for that land. Therefore only I will benefit from any minerals or oil that comes out of that land. Alaska does that because they pay people to live there. Private ownership means something here and I don't share.

  3. Where did you get the idea that anything is owned collectively in the USA?

The only thing we own collectively is the debt the US government created in our name.

  4. Yeah!  I want my oil money!  That's one socialistic program that conservatives can live with!
