  1. The answer is that the olympic boxing committee, International Boxing Association (AIBA), decides the rules and they want  to use amateur rules in the Olympics, thus not allowing professional boxers to compete. Did you know that boxing is the only sport in the Olympics that doesn’t allow professional athletes?

  2. I would love to see Olympic go back to the amateur rule for all sport.  We don't need pro playing.  They are too wealthy to really want to win.  I'm not convince that these pro give their all all the time.  When I watch amateur like boxing or gymnastic or track and field, I think the competition is much more fierce and fun to watch.

US used to send college player to the Olympic only but those teams where getting beat up by pro of Europe and that's why US decided to send our pro.

  3. I was going to ask the same question, until I read one of the answers here, I thought that N.B.A Basketball players were the only professional athletes allowed to play in the olympics and I wondered why. The news article states that only Pro Boxers aren't allowed. Wonder why I only hear about Pro basketball players?

  4. baseball also ^^^

  5. Armature boxing rules suck. If you are a pro you wouldn't want to box like that.
