I think this is the only way golf would be a sport, without caddies, golf would be just as athletic as other olympic sports

  1. their are 3 reason not 2 go 2 the olympics with no caddies...

1st)the air:didnt u see th americans wearing masks???

2nd)every country doesnt have enough golfers

3rd)caddies help with what your doing wrong...they see the problems on their swing, and help them with green tips

  2. From what I've been reading, none of the pros would be allowed to go anyways.

  3. Hey...to KBUNKE...both the Ryder and President Cups are played with no sponsorship and prize money. The Olympics would be the same as the Tennis players are not being paid to participate. The pro's like money like any other professional sports person. Thats why they are pros....they play to get paid.

I would love to see golf in the Olympics. It is a true global sport and to see the best from each country in the world play in the format would be fantastic. It would need to be a mixed event aswell as individual honours.

  4. I actually REALLY like the idea of no caddies... I also had thought of a different approach to getting golf BACK into the Olympics.

1 - No pros  ( I hate seeing pros from tennis and basketball there - and I am an ex-competitive tennis player.)

    2 - Individual & Team competitions

2 - Single and Mixed gender teams

I also think it could be a stroke and time event.  Now that would be really interesting.  Finish your rounds under four hours, carry the clubs, etc.  Wow, sounds like a typicall round for us mortals.  = )

  5. Some pros would and most would not. A majority of pros see majors and cups such as the Ryder cup as enough competition to promote the game. I don't doubt that if Tiger went to a foreign country and won a gold medal that young kids in that region would pick up the game, but lets face it, pros like money and they won't get a penny out of the olympics. If you put golf in the olympics and made it strictly amateurs in the field there would probably be more interest in that by many people.

  6. i think some pros would go who exactly i dont know.  there are some big tournaments surrounding the olympic games that would prevent a lot from playing.  i like the idea of no caddies it would make it a little different for us viewers.  as for athletes loving money well there are the tennis players as the guy above me said but how about the basketball players.  kobe  is playing and he might make 50 million in a trade in the next 2 years.  he could blow all that potential money with a knee injury in a game during the olympics.  the olympics are a way to show which country is the best at any one sport, most athletes at that level have so much money that what is a couple hundred thousand dollars to compete to say you are the best in the world

  7. I reckon having golf as an Olympic Sport would be awesome. Yeah I reckon some of the pro would still participate even without caddies.

    Have a good one...
