Question:

If the ones who answered my orthotics question could tell if this is normal, I'd appreciate it. Is it?

My ankle just above my right heel swells up if I wear the orthotics too long. Has this happened in your experience? It hurts like h**l, and I have to put up with at work. How long does it take to get used to them?

  1. EDIT: OK, I asked! My partner says this is NOT normal, and suggests you contact your podiatrist asap, as there could be a problem with the orthotic.

    Good luck with this! :-)

I'll ask my partner for you. I know there was some discomfort at first, but that sounds a little severe. I'll get back to you on this asap.

    Cheers :-)

  2. If they are prescription orthotics they may have been mismeasured or your right planter surface or the moveable joint between your heel and the bone further forward (talus) has inflammation. Being held in position when there is no flat foot or plantar fasciitis is not helpful.

OTC orthotics can have this problem, each foot is different, orthotics are really made to measure.

  3. perhaps it isn't the proper fit, another visit to doc is in order. good luck! the doc's answer has me worried due to the spelling of the profession!
