we must be able to make a way of rebuilding the caps we make ice at home dont we so why not do the same with the caps.some places in the world would stop flooding and we can save our planet for our children

  1. Unfortunately there is no simple, economical or logical solution to this problem.

  2. How ? there is no refrigerator that big , we are doomed , mother nature is taking it , goodnight Vienna . If you are using a fridge you are as guilty as the next man .

  3. If you go behind your refrigerator, you'll find that there's an exhaust that blows out hot air. We can make ice, however the energy (heat) from the water that we took out to make it ice has to go somewhere else. In the case of the freezer, ultimately out the back. In the case of the ice caps, anything that we could do to cool down one part of the earth would heat up another.

  4. Yeah, you might have trouble finding a plug point for your freezer in the Antarctic.

  5. Refrigerators and freezers work by removing heat. This requiers energy and the heat doesn't just disappear - it ends up outside the freezer, thus causing global warming which melts the ice caps!!! To reverse this you need to cut down on processes whic cause the rise in temperature.

  6. This "Global Warming" is about as serious as Y2K , the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on mankind.

Ice caps melt as part of the regular cycles of the earth, we are heading for an Ice age , in actual fact we are overdue for an Ice age .Certainly we have contributed but the fact is the earth goes through cycles of heating and cooling.

Why there is so much panic is because the fertile regions of the earth face becoming the deserts and vice versa  so it could mean tha t in a couple of hundred years people of America will be starving whilst the people of sub Saharan Africa are having lots of food.

Secondly many of the big cities of the first world nations will disappear as the seas rise, this is because many cities are built on coast lines. This will create huge humanitarian issues in America , Australia and several other nations.

Cooling the planet is a myth, the planet will do what it wants, when it wants and we will have little or no control. we cannot stop  earthquakes, Floods, hurricanes , and we cannot stop the regular cycles of global warming and cooling.

All, we can do is prepare and have strategies in place to help the people affected by the flooding and rising seas that are going to come as well as provide food and shelter for them.

It  is coming and the face of the earth will change (again) that is life.

  7. Yeah, all we've got to do is cool the Earth down.

  8. It's not that easy making the ice NOT melt! What grade are you in!? I mean you should know this! You can't just put all of Antartica in a magical spell that can stop it from melting!! And you can't get ice out of mid-air so you can'tm put the ice back either! I swear it's like your in your own fantasy world! It's global warmings fault! We can't do anything about it! K! So you just can't....

  9. its that simple is it? you go do it, enjoy your trip.

  10. typical human. 'i can't be bothered to stop what i'm doing , so someone just clean up after me'

ever heard of 'prevention is better than cure?'

  11. You can not save the planet by making the ice caps stop melting.  There is nothing wrong with having the ice caps melt.  Remember that at one time this world did not have ice caps.  Human beings need to live smarter.  Don't build cities on a coastline that is below sea level.  Let the ice caps melt and the earth warm.  So what?  We will just have to live in different areas of the planet.  This has happened before.  People used to live where the Sahara desert is but since it became a desert they don't live there anymore.  If the waters are rising move the city to a safe level where the water won't flood it.  Not that difficult.

  12. Good idea, all we have to do is install huge fridges at the north and south poles.

Mind you, though... have you ever put your hand at the back of a fridge / freezer?  It's really hot, isn't it, because that's all the heat that's been extracted from inside the fridge... it's got to go somewhere, hasn't it.  Plus, fridges use energy, which causes more heat.

So thanks for trying, but trying to save the ice caps in the same way "we make ice at home" would only speed up global warming.

Scientists are considering ways to prevent melting ice caps (other than humankind simply not using as much energy, not generating as much carbon dioxide etc).

For example, one idea (though not very practical) would be to install huge mirrors or barriers in space, which would reflect part of the sunlight away from the earth.  Less sunlight means less heat means not hot enough for the icecaps to melt.

  13. 1] Obtain INFINITE wealth,

    >>2] Buy ALL the aluminum foil that exists,

    >>>>3] Completely cover all the ice on earth,

    Next???

  14. Mankind is not omnipotent.  We are still at the mercy of the earth.  You see proof of that every day.

And the trick with making ice is that heat is transferred from inside the fridge to the outside.  On earth, there is no OUTSIDE.  It IS the outside.  No where to put the heat.

  15. As soon as you make it it will just melt again. DUHHHH

The person who just typed above ^^ is a r****d. He obviously dosen't know that ice caps takes hundreds of years to melt and that the size of them would mean it would take quite a long time.

It would kill our grandchildren instead =D
