If the power in my car keeps cutting out would it be my alternator?

2 weeks ago all the power in my car died for about 2 seconds. My headlights, stereo, dash, everything power went out and turned back on. This morning on my way to work within about 2 minutes everything went out about 15 times for 2-3 seconds each time. Does it sound like an alternator problem, or something else?

  1. it's your alternator if you car is in motion and this is happening... if you just cant start your car, it is  your battery

  2. it could be your alternator or battery connectors or even your battery.

  3. If the car keeps running when it happens, then it's not the alternator. It's a loose ground wire under the dash. If the car is a G.M., the wire is probably to the lower left under the dash. Try feeling around underneath and if that's the problem, it will be obvious when you find it.

  4. If the problem is happening while the car is already started and in motion, it is probably the alternator.  Get it looked at now before it strands you somewhere!

I'm not a mechanic, just a guy who's had his share of bad alternators.

  5. listen to greg b he's right!!!!!!
