  1. It depends on the Country. In the UK adopted children cannot ascend to any title including the throne. e.g Baron and Lady Haden-Guest (better known as Christopher Guest and Jamie Lee Curtis) have adopted two children but the heir to the title is his brother.

  2. I think NOT. The child should be from the same "clan" otherwise, who will respect the ruling ?

  3. queens will not adopt because they will not let their money leave the family they take don't give

  4. No. The rights of sucession are based on blood ties to a particular monarch [eg. Sophie, Electress of Hanover; Victoria, etc] it is based on blood and not on legal status.

  5. You're starting from a hypothesis that is as near impossible as it comes.  Royalty just would not adopt.  This is why there has been such massive emphasis on the production of an heir, and complex laws of succession to ensure that someone of the blood-line is identified as the closest in the event of the ruler dying without a child to inherit.

The laws governing succession are individual to the countries with royalty, so I can't absolutely say it would never, ever happen because I don't know anything about some of those countries.  But the very concept of 'royalty' is a concept of 'blood-line', so I can't see it being likely.

  6. The Constitution wouldn't allow it.

That said, Marcus Aurelius was adopted and he became emporer of the Roman Empire.

  7. Not usually.  The line of succession goes according to blood ties, though if the reigning queen were unable to have a child of her own there is a possibility that an adopted child could eventually succeed to the throne.

  8. It depends on the country,I suppose, but most countries don't count adopted royal children as heirs to the throne. They must be part of the royal bloodline-born to the-family.
