If the reproduction constant (neutron multiplication factor) is 1.000200 for a chain reaction in a fission reactor and the average time between successive fissions is 1.20 ms, by what factor will the reaction rate increase in 1.05 min?

I have no idea. :S

Any help, or explanation.

  1. :)

    Use the equation, N(t)=(No)(e^(k-1)t/T)

    No=1

    k= 1.0002

    t=1.05 min= 63 sec

    T=1.20ms= 0.0012 sec

    So, your answer is e^10.5 or 36,315.50
