If she feels for the people, she will not accept an increase at this juncture.  The truth is, she can still live comfortably on her present salary.  It is not that she is depending on her wages for her needs; she has more than enough to live by with her other resources.

If she feels for the Filipino, it will do her good if she appropriates the increase for the salaries of government employees.  If not, give it back to the coffers of the country to spend the money on worthwhile projects.
