  1. Roy Halladay would have to get a mention somewhere?

  2. no it would be lee and webb

  3. Daisuke Matsuzaka and Brandon Webb

  4. I know this question gets asked literally every five minutes in here and it gets pretty tiresome, but why does anyone think Lincecome is going to be the Cy winner? He's not the best pitcher in the NL first off, and second, the Giants are awful.

Unless he has a massive folding in September, Brandon Webb has pretty much locked up the Cy in the NL.

  5. It has to be Cliff Lee, and no other considerations. Look at his stats compared to Mussina and Halladay.

Too bad Chien-Ming Wang got hurt.

  6. Cliff Lee would win the AL and Brandon Webb would win the NL.

  7. If the season ended today.. Lee is winning on a bad Indians team and that may be correct. Or, Santana or Saunders from out West. Lincecum in the NL, no. Right now maybe Zambrano or Webb, over him. It has to go to a leader of a Division winner if the stats aren't far & away better.

Brandon Webb, for his role on the D-Backs. Believe it or not, I'd also consider Sabbathia (8-0) too, who ties an all-time record with another Win. If the Brewers win,  and Sabb. is 12-0 he's be THE REASON it happened. But, Webb's the man and leading a team to a pennant.

Lee maybe in the AL, or one of the Angels' SPs... but, at season's end, too.. but wait and see if the NY Yankees come back into the race and then, shockingly you'd have to think about Mussina (!).

  8. YEP!

  9. Carlos Zambrano in the National League, and WHO CARES in the American League.

  10. Yes.

  11. I think Halladay must be mentioned. He has a little higher era and more K's. He also has thrown 8 complete games. And also in his 9 losses a side note is he has only recieved 15 runs of support!!!! Some pitchers recieve that after 2 games but he got that through 9!!!.

  12. for me, yes. most people will say brandon webb because he has 18 wins or so. but if you compare him with lincecum, tim has the better ERA, more strikeouts, lower opponent batting average, given up less hits, less earned runs, and less runs. all this despite playing for a really bad offensive team. had webb been on the giants, his numbers wouldnt be as good as they are now.

  13. While both have performed well enough to be considered Cy Young, I doubt that Lincecum and maybe even Lee would win the award. It's obvious for Lincecum, he plays for a bad team and he only has 13 wins so far (compared to Webb's 18 wins). Webb's number of wins and Arizona's position in the pennant clearly offsets the 0.25 higher ERA. For Lee though, it's a close call. He plays for a losing team that struggled offensively, but he completely filled the roles left by Sabathia and the injuries by Carmona. I think Saunders, Matsuzaka and Halladay have about equal chances to win the Cy Young award as well.
