Little rusty on how it works since the Reds haven't played in a playoffs with a wild card. Doesn't the best record of the division leaders automatically play the Wild Card team? Thanks for the refresher course!!

  1. No, we would play Arizona

  2. Division opponents can only play each other in the LCS. If the Brewers were the Wild Card they would play the West or East champion that has the better record.

  3. Okay.

The best record in a league plays the wild card(except in their division, then they play 3rd best team).

Best record has home field advantage in division series. Games 1,2 and 5.

The 2nd best record in a league plays the 3rd best record.(Or wild card, if best record plays 3rd best). 2nd best record gets home field advantage in division series.

Then, in league championship series, the team with the better record of the two gets home field advantage. One exception is that the wild card never gets home field advantage in the Championship series. Games 1,2,6,7 .

Then in world series, the league that won the All-Star Game gets home field advantage. Games 1,2,6,7

  4. No, the Cubs would play my Diamondbacks and get swept.

  5. The best record would play the wild card team except when the teams are from the same division. The Cubs would play the division champ with the worst record, and the Brewers would play the 2nd best team.

  6. No, because -- and MLB postseason policy makes this explicitly clear -- the wild card DOES NOT PLAY THE CHAMPION FROM THE SAME DIVISION in the first round, regardless of seedings.

Now you know. Go forth and live a bolder, brighter life.

  7. No. Teams from the same division can not play each other in the first round. If the season ended today, the Cubs would play the Diamondbacks, due to the fact that they have the worst record amongst playoff teams.

    GO CUBBIES

PS-The Diamondbacks suck back. They'll probably forfeit just to save face anyways. .
