Question:

If the sides of my biceps get sore, am I training the brachialis?

Every time I've done a biceps workout for the past several months, I experience soreness only in the *side* of the biceps, not the top (brachii). I'm guessing this is the brachialis. (What I mean is that the only time I feel sore is when I apply pressure to the humerus from the outside of my arm). Does this mean that my brachialis are just very underdeveloped, and I will need to keep working them until I'm in a position to significantly train the brachii again? Or does it have something to do with the exercises I'm doing? I do all the standard ones (barbell curls, dumbbell curls, preacher curls, hammer curls, forearm curls, etc.).

  1. Don't worry if your muscles aren't sore all around.  The exercises are fine though.  If you really want growth, try using 21's.  These will train every angle of your bicep.  Look on the internet for the proper form.
