  1. Your toilet will flush the same in both hemispheres. That is an urban myth.

  2. I have been in both hemispheres, and the toilets all flushed in the same direction. That would also be true at the Equator.  The Coriolis force takes some time to show its effect, much longer than the time for a toilet to flush.  The direction of flush is a result of the water emptying into the bowl at an angle.  This slantwise input of water is what induces the direction of flush.

  3. The swirling is caused entirely by the design of the toilet.

There is an urban myth that the coriolis effect causes this, but this only affects larger-scale things such as hurricanes (or cyclones as they are fondly known in the other hemisphere).

At the equator, there is an "unstable equilibrium" where the slightest action could bias it one way or the other. So it wouldn't be easily predictable there (even if it affected toilets). It would be like balancing one ball bearing on another.

Again though, a small body of water would only drain this way under precise laboratory conditions.
