If the u.s went to was with russia or china, who would win?

It is unlikely that we will go to war with either country.  They are both dependent on our economy.  If we were to go to war with them the investment dollars that the US currently pours into their different economies would cease.  Neither nation can afford that.

US went to war? I think no reason needed to wage war, a simple thing like fake "mass destructive weapon" reason enough to invaded Iraq. But different thing if US try to defeat Russia or China, because those two country have more stable economy than Iraq. This factor, you know, is essential because with stable economic condition they can build weapon factory until buy modern warfare equipment & weaponry. If we refer to Huntington, the most dangerous enemy for US is based on culture. So, he mention China and Islam as two old culture that can threat western civilization. I think the most important in this view is Huntington see world problem from US view which he claimed as western view. But, actually in fact not all western countries have the same vision about some issue. Just for reminder, Germany and French were disagree when US attacked Iraq.

So, the only reason if US want to wage war against Russia and China is economic reason. But, according to Cold War experience, it is most effective for US to conduct silent operation through intelligence and economic destruction which make Sovyet Union fallen already.If war emerge, US have superiority in weaponry. But this is not enough. Somalia,Afghanistan, and Iraq are the best example. So, the winner could be any country which can maximize their resources in war.

Why does everyone have to assume that the next major conflict will involve nuclear or biological weapons? Unless we obliterate a country and drive toward its capital in a total war scenario, there is no reason that logical people would use WMD in the first place, nor would they grossly overreact in the event of tactical nuclear bombs being used.

That being said, let's hope that they never do.

But basically, a war against China or Russia would definitely mean that America would go in with allies, presumably NATO.

It really depends on where the fighting was to take place. It's much simpler to fight a war on the fringes of your own country than it is to project your power overseas or across borders. China has so many d**n people that it would be a fiasco trying to get land forces across the whole country.

As for Russia, they still have a lot of weapons and technology superior to the Chinese and close to our own in terms of effectiveness.

But basically, NATO would dominate either country, pff, both combined even. America alone could still knock either one out of the war, but taking both at once would be pushing it.

This of course is assuming that strategically defeating either of the countries would be cause enough to end the war. In a total war scenario... Well I can't even imagine the money, lives, and time that it would take to completely subjugate Russia or China, especially the latter.

No reason yet to go to war with China, and highly unlikely that we'll go to war with Russia although they're rattling sabers.

But in either case, the US would definitely win.

ok but seriously, probably nobody. we would nuke each other and survivors would have to evacuate both countries, probably only the southern hemisphere would be inhabitable.
