  1. the universe is constantly expanding, using this rate of expansion they could probably calculate the origin of the universe. someone correct me if i am wrong please

  2. The Universe is finite!

  3. As you have already been told, the universe is not infinite and doesn't have a center. I know it's hard to understand so please allow me this exercise:

You see your monitor that is a tiny fraction of a second away from you in time. You see the sun that is 8 minutes away from you in time, you see the closest star, Proxima Centauri, that is 4 light years away in time and you see galaxies that are up to 47 billion light years away in time.

You see in both space and time! The farther you see in space, the farther you see in time. Thus, the 'center' of the universe, the closest to the Big Bang we can see is not a point in space but a sphere around us. Amazing, isn't it?

That's why, the Cosmic Microwave Background, the left-over of the first particles of the universe, some 130,000 years after the Big Bang, is coming from all the directions in the sky.

What Einstein's relativity tells us is that there is no absolute frame of reference in the universe; no center, no edge, no outside it either.

If you were a fish swimming in an ocean on a planet without continent, wherever you were in that ocean, you would be at the center of it, right? Well, that's how our universe is.

  4. According to scientists the universe is constantly expanding. So, if the universe can expand, then it has boundaries. If it has boundaries, then it's not infinite.

  5. No they did not.  The Universe has no centre.  The galaxy has a centre and so do all other spiral galaxies.  There are probably large black holes at the centres of each, though the size of them probably differs.

  6. You're confusing "universe" with "galaxy". Our galaxy has a centre and it does contain a supermassive black hole. The universe has no centre, just as the surface of a sphere has no centre.

  7. The universe is elliptical and not infinite, like earth. How do you know where the centre of the earth is? We cannot reach the boundaries because gravity bends us around and keeps us from reaching its edge, much like we dont fall off earth.
