My family is in the process of moving into a new house and I found this amazing vintage wallpaper, but the walls aren't smooth. Is there any way I can buffer them or something and make them smooth? And how exactly do you install wallpaper? thanks in advance :]]]

  1. Some wall papers hide what used to be called spanish tile or a stucco wall. There is also a liner that can be used to cover the wall with first and than wallpaper over the liner. Check with a wall paper store for wall paper liner.

  2. You can definitely install wallpaper on non smooth walls, in fact, this is the bets way to cover up any defects or rudges in walls, and people have done this for centuries simply due to this benefit.  Look up the technique for afixing the wallpaper to the wall online, or simply contact your local Home Depot, they will give you the steps to do it right.

Also, you can look up www.diy.com, it is a channel that provides many how to videos on the web, as they have a Do It Yourself channel on Satellite TV for people like you!

    Good luck!

  3. get cushioned wall liner (paintable)...It will not show any imperfections.  If you don't, and you put up a smooth, non-patterned wallpaper, you will see alot of the imperfections.  Install the wall liner, then install the wallpaper over it.

  4. Unless the home is really old and wallpaper seems to be fitting of it's age, I wouldn't do it.  Very few people do wallpaper anymore.  It's just not done.  Wallpaper is difficult to apply without a professional.  Paint is easy and can easily be changed.  I would think twice before I would wallpaper especially without a pro to do it.  It is not easy to apply.  Been there done that. Would never go there again.
