  1. I'm not following your logic that because something involves money, that's what it's "about".  Please explain.

When you buy a car, is that "all about money", or is it about transportation, getting to work, and assuring your well being in general?

  2. It won't.  As soon as someone commits to $45 trillion, the price will go up to $90 trillion.

There will never be enough to satisfy these greedy self righteous environmentalist.

  3. You get people like Dana, Bob and Ken that suggested that it wouldn't be expensive to fix a few months ago.  If trillions of dollars isn't expensive to them, I wonder if they might consider loaning me a few measly million.

  4. The difference with all those car analogy's, is that you are the one solely responsible for it. The government looks at individuals on another level. Your a endless supply of money, even after they have given our jobs away. I just don't see the government as really caring about the welfare of the people.

  5. Simply, without the paranoia, somebody has to PAY the workers to clean up the fouled environment. Somebody has to PAY for the equipment used to clean up the environment. Do you go to work every day and tell your employer, "Hey, I'll do this for free!"? Would you accept it with grace if your employee said, "I have to cut your paycheck in half in order to clean up the environment"?

How much of a chance is there that 90% of humanity would clean up the environment for free, eschewing their vacations, large screen tvs (those developed countries that is), their ATV's which destroy the environment in the first place(!)?

As I said, somebody has to PAY for all of that labor and equipment, etc. Just because Al Gore owns or has an interest in a company that deals with the environment, he's not trying to take over the world! Just like YOU he needs to make money to live as well, and it might as well be an ENVIRONMENTALLY involved and/or responsible company!

  6. When your car breaks down, I assume you pay to have it fixed.  Or do you simply conclude "it can't really be broken (even though I can't start it) because the mechanic just wants money"?

Of course it takes money to fix a problem.  But certainly that doesn't mean there's not really a problem.

If Gore, or anyone else, gets a part of that 45 trillion, it's simply because they are smart enough to invest in companies that will make a profit in the clean energy industry. You can do the same.

  7. Bingo.

The bill would have put in place a cap and trade system - - and guess, what, it was co-sponsored by Lieberman.  Lieberman was, you recall, on the 2000 Democratic Presidential ticket, along with Al Gore, who........ co-founded and co-owns....... a carbon credit trading firm.

I used to think AGW was an interesting but unproven theory that might yet one day be proven - - - I used to think the "global warming is a scam" line was over the top.    Now, I see that there was something to that line.
