m stands for mega or million

if we will rephrase it it will be

which is higher, 680 thousand or 6 million

if we convert both units to million then

which is higher, 680 thousand(6.8 million) or 6 million

there you go, the answer is 680 kpix is better cause it actually stands for (6.8 mpix, which of course greater than 6 mpix)
