  1. Because the number of cars in Beijing has doubled since 1995.

  2. mainly because of factories alot of stuff are from china.

  3. Mainly because of coal fired power stations and factories, but there are also milions of cars too.

  4. Not only because of cars and factories but lack of maintenence.  Automobiles are still fairly new there.  In North America, you see oil lube maintenence stations every few blocks, but in China they are very very rare.  Eventually they will catch on and build them because it's a very good business to make $$.  And hopefully control their car pollution.

  5. Factories, sweat shops, etc...

  6. It would be even more polluted without those 9 million bicycles in Beijing.

  7. there r lots of ppl

  8. because there are 100 million cars and millions of factories

  9. most of the bycycles have engines.

  10. Due to the rest of the World Buying cheap chinese High carbon foot printed goods

  11. It's not only cars that pollute the air. There are factories and buildings that dump tons of carbon dioxide into the air, especially with coal (which is the dirtiest and cheapest source of energy) being the number one source of energy for the country. 9 million bicycles don't mean anything. People still ride cars, buses, etc (the traffic in Beijing is ridiculous).

Don't forget China has a population of 1.3 billion people.

  12. factories making all that stuff

it would be ten times worse if they had cars! lol
