any thinking person knew about this so called financial benefits to the country ages ago,stands to reason the migrant workers use the services eg- doctors, schools, hospitals, housing, the list goes on. its a hoax , i take what the govt. ask us to swallow with a pinch of salt.

Edit - Afrowoman last time I was down a hospital I was the one of the few speaking English (other than the staff)  - there would not be such a need for nurses etc without the mass immigration surly?

Skilled migrants such as doctors etc are welcome.

But mass migration from people just wanting to send money home does nothing for us.

As for the "dirty jobs", well the argument "you wouldn't dream of doing them" doesn't wash with me because I HAVE done them and so have many of my friends and family so I'm sorry but that one doesn't work.

I guess the one benefit is that the businesses get away with not having to offer training and advancement or paying overtime to their  employees and can get away with offering crappy low paid dead end jobs with few rights - if there was full employment they wouldn't be able to do that because noone would take them.   And flooding the country with migrants ensures there will not be full employment.  So it makes the rich even richer.   Thats no benefit for most of us though.

None that I know of afro....sorry.  They are undercutting all our Self-Employed workers in the Building/Plumbing/Labouring and Carpentry industry.  And can still claim Child Allowance from the UK as well as back home !!!

This is such a hard question.

Near where I live are a couple of Polish people and a few Italians and a German who came over after WW2 and stayed.

The only other migrant workers I've ever met are the Indian and Chineze Restaurant owners and they benefit me every Tuesday and Friday - with a take-away !

none that i know of .i can remember the days when our hospitals were clean and safe. and it wasnt so long ago that the company i work for paid overtime rates. not any more

well my feelings are that the money that immigrants and economic migrants obviously boosts the countries economy - but when that is tallied against the money used to educate their kids and provide housing and free health etc ... their probably is no 'financial gain' as such for the country. Most of us on a modest income will take more out of the pot than we will ever put in when you consider benefits lite education, health and social security.

However that is a long way from justifying that we do not need immigrants, because we have to keep the infrastructure going - jobs that were carried out by the 'working class' 30,40 years ago are now done largely by economic migrants, because the indiginant population simply will not work for low wages - and that is a fact. if all the economic migrants and immigrants downed tools for a week, we would be screwed - face it

Your first question is an incomplete sentence. Probably a direct correlation to your utterly incomplete knowledge of the net benefit of migrants(both legal and illegal) to the United States. Migrants may pick a lot of things, but cotton balls, cuetips, and swabs aren't any of them. When migrants are involved in our health services they are receiving them at great cost to we who pay taxes. Much the same for the rest of the social services we pay for. What do they bring to us? Well, they have really neat demonstrations and marches where they burn American flags and shout obscene, disparaging, things about the U.S.;  they raise the Mexican flag over one of our post offices; they depress wages and make many of our business owners happy; they help fill our prisons; they threaten to "shut down the country" if they aren't granted citizenship for breaking the law;..... Gosh, they do bring so much to our country. I leave it to you to decide if these are benefits.
