Question:

If there are ozone holes, why doesn't the heat escape through them, preventing global warming?

Global warming or the greenhouse effect is supposed to trap heat because it bounces (to make it simple) off the ozone layer... but if there are ozone holes, then why doesn't that radiated heat escaped through them?

  1. Heat cannot travel through vaccum. the outer space is vaccum because there is no medium- air water or anything, but just a blank space.our earth is circulated by many gases because which the heat remains on the earth.

  2. A little of it does.  Enough to keep Antarctica from warming as fast as the rest of the world, because that's where the ozone hole is the worst.

But not enough to make any difference elsewhere.

  3. There may be holes in the o-zone layer but that still doesn't mean there can't be a layer of CO2 being formed.

The holes in the o-zone layer aren't significant enough to allow enough heat to be lost to counter-act global warming.

Also the CO2 layer can only allow some radiation through it and it just happens that it can't allow the radiations out the earth to go through it.

  4. Do you realize how the atmosphere actually works? Based on your wild assumptions, you don't know much! You claim to believe that global warming is a hoax, but in actuality, you're being scammed!  With such a dismal understanding of science,no wonder you fall for such junk science!  You should have paid more attention in school, then you wouldn't make such a fool of yourself on here!

  5. Different thing entirely.  the ozone hole let higher levels of UV radiation in.  The greenhouse happens at a different layer of the atmosphere, and the theory is that more CO2 and methane absorb the long wave radiation radiated by the earth after it is heated by the sun. The ozone holes are so last century though, I mean really, no one talks about that anymore. Climate Change is the new black.

  6. That question makes WAY to much sense!  I can just see all the global warming nuts, scratching there heads.  Trying to make all there"science" explain it....Hilarious!

  7. they are not holes as in a hole in a window but holes as in a hole in the ground.ie just a place with a thinner layer of ozone.

yes heat dose escape through them, but its not much.

this pict should help explain it. the hole in the ozone layer has much less effect then other things such as low level ozone pollution.
