i had a 6 in the flush. my friend had a queen and the debate began. wikipedia says that the king-queen flush wins, but more experienced poker players say that it doesnt matter since the ace did not come into play?

  1. The person who can make the highest value flush is the winner.  In this case it would be whoever is holding the Queen.  It has nothing to do with the Ace.

  2. In the event of a flush, the player with the highest card of the flush suit wins, in this case the Queen.

In Texas Holdem, at showdown, you use the best 5 cards to determine the winning hand. Your opponent won with the Q.

Wikipedia was right, and in the future, you should have a rule that any disputes are settled by Wikipedia, or a hand book, or some other rule book of Texas Holdem. It saves a lot of arguments, lol.

    Good luck

  3. I don't know who these 'more experienced poker players' are, but they're full of it. High suited 5 cards win the flush, period.

  4. The biggest card will decide who is the winner. If both of your biggest card is same (e.g your is Q and your friend is Q), then go for the second biggest and so on.

  5. the high card wins

  6. While K,10,9,8,2 are the same suit:

If the Q is also same suit as the flush, Q wins.

    like this K,Q,10,9,8

If they are not same suit as the flush, split.

    K,10,9,8,2

If only the 6 is same suit, 6 wins.

    K,10,9,8,6

  7. Your more experienced players were, as we say down here "pissing on you and telling you it is rain"  They either don't know what they are talking about, or were standing to split the pot with you, the k/q flush beats the k/10 flush every time and twice on Sunday.
