  1. it depends...red algie if the water is swallowed can give stomach aches, and a few other issues throwing up n such but green algea should be fine

  2. A little algae is fine.. if its just algae that has attached to the walls and isnt discoloring the water your kids will be fine.  You can actually brush the walls where the algae is, and remove the algae from the walls, and the pool water will take care of it.  You should probably shock your pool to give it a boost of chlorine to help kill any algae in the water.  If you are not running your pool at least 8 hours a day, you may be creating the algae problem yourself, by not running the pool long enough.  Just because its cloudy, or the kids wont be using the pool, is not a reason to keep it off.  If you chlorinate your pool by a chlorinator or by using chlorine tabs in your skimmer, you are only adding chlorine when you run your pool.

8 hours minimum, anything less, and you could be creating the conditions in your water for the algae to bloom.

  3. No prob what so ever.
