If there is a shortage, then *duh*, the demand will increase.  When and if the demand goes down, the supply goes up.Unlikely, since billions of people live on rice.  The solutions depend on the causes.  If the cause of the shortage is aliens from Mars stealing our rice, then it is NASA's responsibilty to fix the problem.


  2. Well, the supply goes down, while demand may rise.  The price of rice will go up.

    And it times like that, rice may be rationed?
