  1. i don't believe that b/c not only is that a scare tactic for people in power to get the masses to do what they want but if there really was a god, it wouldn't matter. it wouldn't care if you worshiped it, that is, assuming that it is benevolent. the reward and punishment thing is all unnecessary for a god who is supposedly the knower, and maker of all things.

  2. your right.christians are in a win win situation.

  3. Disagree. I believe there is a God from the bottom of my heart. I trust in God and pray every night. If there is no God I wouldn't care I'd be like the rest of you bums. Die and turn to dirt.

  4. Yipee, another variation on Pascal's wager.

  5. So, if Odin is real, then you and I are in trouble?

I'm not gonna convert? Are you? If not, why not? According to your argument, you should. Why take the chance?

  6. Good thing I have a screwdriver.

  7. Paschal's wager again?

    Oh, well...

    Cheers!

  8. I agree. It means that, if there is no God, then no one has anything to lose by believing or disbelieving or being bad or being good because everyone just simply ends when they die and there is no after-life. Whereas if there is a God, then it matters whether people believe or disbelieve and whether people are good or bad because bad people and disbelievers will go to h**l.

Some people try to use this as an argument for the belief in God. But it's a very weak argument because it's really just a fear tactic. It's essentially saying, "You better believe in God because if you don't and you're wrong, God will send you to h**l". Real believe comes from actually believing that something is true. Not from making yourself believe it or pretending to believe it just in case.

Plus, every religion has a different god or gods and has a different set of rules that you're supposed to follow in order for those gods to not punish you in some way. You can't believe in all of the different religions at once because they are contradictory in their claims about reality. So you're always going to run the risk of believing in the wrong thing. You might be a devout Christian but end up reincarnated as a slug because you ate beef and it turns out that Hinduism is the true faith.

  9. NOTHING TO LOSE?  ARE YOU INSANE?

Atheists REALIZE that they cannot just ask for forgiveness each and every time they do something bad and everything is all OK again.  We have consciouses that would eat at us if we did something bad.  THEREFORE we THINK before we act impulsively (if we have been taught well by good parents) and do NOT do the bad thing in the first place.  We think that if more people were part of the solution (making the world a better place for others) that we, in turn, would have a better world to live in and a better world for our children.

Theists are just concerned about admitting their sins to their priests in their confessionals so they don't feel so bad for doing it, and doing what some book says so they get to have an awesome eternity in heaven, ... instead of focusing on making this one life on earth better NOW!...

That's why most republicans are heavy theists... they just want to be happy for the hear and now... they don't care about the future because they won't be here (in their minds)... they will be off in never never land....

    stupidstupidstupidstupid people... <<sigh>>
