  1. when parking on the side of the road always turn your steering wheel towards the curb(to the right). UNLESS you are parked uphill WITH a curb then turn it away from the curb (to the left)

  2. In the U.S., turn your wheel to the right. Since there is no curb, if your brake did fail, your vehicle would roll out of the roadway.

In countries where you drive on the left side of the road, turn your wheel to the left.

  3. Turn them to the right not the left.

  4. i am confused also to the left...wont that go back out in the road if it rolls backwards to the right it would roll away from the road

  5. Remember these:

*If parked downhill with or without a curb, turn wheels toward curb.

*If parked uphill with curb, turn wheels away from curb.

*If parked uphill without curb, turn wheels to the right.

Best of luck on your permit test.

  6. turn your steering wheel left

  7. Always in such a way to make sure that your car would move AWAY from the road.

And also, there's a trick - put something under the wheels, like a piece of brick, stone or even piece of wood would work. You know, just slide it on the tarmac under the tire until it doesn't move. It can prevent a disaster. (I used to have two bricks ready under a tree:-) two wheels supported are enough, even one is better than none).
